#Tao is an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel on Efnet where people from all over the world come together to talk about the tao and their experiences of Taoist philosophy. Some have studied Taoist practices such as T'ai Chi, chi gung, Tao yin, or wu shu, others have read some Taoist philosophy such as Lao Tzu, Chuang Tzu or are interested in I ching.
Efnet IRC is a cosmopolitan network so you can expect to meet people of all nationalities and all age groups, most will be speaking English. As well as being fairly open minded about spelling and grammar chatters like to use acronyms and emoticons to express themselves, common examples are LOL (Laughs out loud), brb (be right back) etc. Emoticons are little pictures using text which describe your mood such as :) smiley face, :( unhappy, ;) wink etc, you need to tilt your head to the left to see the picture. In mirc options make sure you select an Efnet server, such as: irc.ins.net.uk or efnet.demon.co.uk ports: 6667 - 7000
Choose a nickname, dont add your real name or email address if you're worried about security.
Click on the first icon, or connect to server in the connect options, then click on the channels icon and add #tao, then join.
